friday night chez claire

SO... its a normal friday night in clairetown... just buckling down to do an expense report to try and win more respect from Morten (whose name I now always have to follow with "who I hear looks like a danish lumberjack") and my "all in one" is outta black ink so I can't photo copy my hotel bills OR print the report... so much for me trying to be organized and get an expense report in at the beginning of the month and before Morten, who I hear looks like a danish lumberjack, sends out an email with a slightly threatening, slightly mean, slightly joking tone to it requesting expense reports and threatening to hold back regular pay till he recieves them...

SO much for being productive and on top of things... I guess I will finish getting my stuff together for snowboarding tomorrow, have a shower and get to bed early...

la la la la I'll be home in toronto next weekend

FOUND!!!

So, today I dedicated my day to cleaning.... I dont want to give you the impression that my place was a disaster area, but it had slowly developed into quite the frenzied mess....

here is my excuse..... I was away for a week in november, then home for a weekend, and a few days, away for 3 days, home for a weekend, away for a week, away for a weekend, home for 2 days, mississauga for 8 days, home for 3 days, ontario for 16 days, home for 5 days, away for 2, home for threee away for 5.... SO as you can see I pretty much show up, do laundry throw stuff in a suitcase and leave again...

WELL, tonight I am hosting a pre-party for the people attending Aarons bands concert, SO that means serious cleaning, some of the peeps attending have never been to my place before and I dont want them to think i live in a place where laundry and eyeglass frames go to die...

well I have been cleaning for about 3.5 hours now, and have found:
  • my other cordless phone handset
  • two cheques totalling $140 that are too old to deposit now....
  • my blue three quarterlenght sleeve hoodie
  • my scotch tape
  • two new colours that my new mens plastic frame comes in... would have been handy to have last week in vancouver....
  • three lip glosses I was sure I must have left at home when I came back after christmas
  • about $7 in coins
  • the re-charger for my bluetooth headset
more cleaning left to do.... I'm procrastinating....

... a case of the stupids...

So... let me set the scene for ya:

Its friday afternoon at about 4:45, I have been stuck in traffic cutting through Edmonton, I'm on my way home after a two day marathon driving sales trip.....

I only have about a 5th of a tank of diesel left so I need to get some before I get on highway two back to Calgary, I had just sat for TWO green lights behind a jeep, when finally it puts on its indicator and budges into the right lane, the driver then leans out the window and yells at me "I just figured out why this car isnt moving, no one is in it, dont get stuck behind it, move over too!!" I manouver around this car, and hang a left into one of those box store jungles, you know what I mean, Rona, home depot, peir one, old navy, designer depot.... I pull up to the diesel pump at the super store, and its got a pilon in front of it and an out of order sign... "dammit"

I then remember that there is a petro canada in the same group of box stores, just way on the other side by the ikea, so I drive through the box stores, looking around all the buildings, scanning scanning for ikea or petro canada... all the while thinking "gas station, gas station, gas station, gas station, gas station, gas station..." when suddenly I see what I have been looking for with WAAAAAAAAAAY too much enthousiasm I scream out (to myself in my car) "THERE'S A BANK"... only to shrink back down in my seat with complete embarassment because well I was looking for a gas station, gas station, gas station

You know you spend WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much time on your own in a car When......

OH and blogger won't let me type without this blue underline...

chapped lips, runny noses and cold toes-es

I'm done with winter... bring on the sunshine!!!

I have had two... TWO different accounts call me today to warn me to drive EXTRA careful to Edmonton because of the Blizzard.... yes sweet of them, BUT wouldn't it be nicer if they called and said "bring a bathing suit, its 35 degrees here in edmonton and we are having a tropical party"

Dreaming of beign warm...
your pal,
CLAIRE

Vegas...

I know... I know... its been a month and no vegas pictures posted online yet... SORRY KIDS... I'm a slacker!!

I have been enjoying Corinas posts about her trip to Rwanda, including visits to the genocide memorial and meeting impoverished children... well in comparison to her trips blog posts, mine seem superficial, crass, tacky and materialism at its worst... which is how I will describe Vegas from now on.... I had a good time, but its not my kind of place. It was not unusual in the morning when Mary the Seattle Alaska rep and I were walking at 7:30am from Caesars palace where we stayed to the Venetian where the convention was being held to see people stumbling around in the street carrying a beer drunk. It was also not uncommon to walk past people sitting on benches or in chairs in the casinos or on the side walk and wonder if they were dead or alive. My dad summed up vegas in a few simple words "if everything is legal its cheap to maintain since there is no need for cops..." its true, all night and all day you are harrassed by the men handing out flyers with naked women on them, you can walk around with your drinks, even enter a bar with your drink from the last bar, you can gamble.... I dont have any pictures from the business portion of the trip, though if I did they would be full of boobies and other such antics... All of my pictures are from before business started on wednesday and from saturday after I split from the prodesign crew till i left on sunday.

$1 frozen Margaeritas

Sure I may not know how to spell Marguerita... I do know a good deal when I discover one... If you do find yourself on the Vegas strip may I recommend you go to Casino Royale and get the one dollar frozen strawberry margeruita... the only bad part is the straw is tiny... so bring your own thick mcdonalds straw and go to town!! Posted by Picasa

The tiger who ate Roy...

These Tiger pictures were taken in the Mirage hotel... I like to think that this is the one who ate Roy... my dad also liked this idea... i think they should feed people to the tiger for the tourists.... that would have made for a better blog post....
